School of Art and Design · ANU College of Arts and Social Sciences
This course explores historical and contemporary image-making practices through the lens of medium format photography and the analogue photographic archive. It offers the opportunity to develop advanced camera skills, and understand how different camera technologies offer different ways of seeing and representing the world. Addressing the persistence of analogue culture in a digital age, the couse introduces methodologies for working with archival material and obsolete formats, incorporating hybrid digital-analogue workflows. In response to set briefs, students will experiment with the dynamics of image scale, capture and processing, enabled by medium format photography.
